SUPPORT GUIDE / SEPTEMBER 2026

Troubleshooting

Identify the failing layer before changing settings.

Windows warns about an unknown publisher

Confirm the installer came directly from streamparallax.com and that the filename and version match the official download page. PARALLAX verifies application updates with its own release signature, but Windows may still show SmartScreen or an unknown-publisher message until commercial Authenticode signing is complete. Do not bypass a warning for files obtained elsewhere.

The installer cannot write to Program Files

RELAY and Companion install for the computer under C:\Program Files\PARALLAX. Approve the Windows administrator prompt. Close any existing installer and application process before retrying. Do not manually move installed executables between folders.

An update banner does not appear

Stable-channel checks happen after startup and periodically, so a newly published release may not appear instantly. Keep the app online and open Settings to run a manual check. An installed version never downgrades itself and testing releases are not offered to public stable clients.

Update downloaded but did not install

Finish playback, choose Install and restart again and allow the updater to open. The application should close before its branded updater replaces the same installation. If it remains open, fully quit from the tray and retry. Do not run internal test-channel scripts or install the update into a second folder.

No sources, but the title is visible

Catalogue and stream addons do different jobs. Enable a source addon, confirm it supports that title type and finish any required publisher configuration. For a series, select an exact season and episode. A title can legitimately have no available sources.

Not confirmed or no peers

Allow discovery to finish, then retry or choose another release. A timeout does not prove that a torrent is permanently unavailable. Check the connection and do not treat an advertised seed count as a live measurement.

Playable, but buffering or failing

Availability checking is not video decoding. Playback may still need opening or end-of-file data, compatible codecs, a healthier swarm or a valid direct URL. Try another release. Report the error and format without sharing private addon links.

Companion offline

Start RELAY Companion on the same computer and run the RELAY Web connection check. Review the browser's local-device permission. Consult the Companion guide before changing firewall settings.

Addon installation fails

Check the manifest URL and HTTPS access. Use the generated manifest link after publisher configuration, not only its landing page. Invalid JSON, unsupported metadata, blocked network targets, duplicate installation and rate limiting can all cause failure.

No subtitles or audio choices

Enable a subtitle addon or import a local subtitle file. Audio options come from the selected media; RELAY cannot create a track absent from that release. Subtitle availability varies by language and provider.

Useful report details

Include the product, exact version, Windows or browser version, steps to reproduce, time of failure and visible error. Redact API keys, account tokens, passwords, local user paths and personalised manifest URLs.
